Pilot Training Outline
|

This is a general listing of the steps followed
in flight training for new members; individual instructors may modify
these steps to suit the progress and past experience of the student.
YOUR INSTRUCTOR WILL DO
EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO SAVE YOUR PLANE AND EQUIPMENT IN CASE OF
PROBLEMS, BUT ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIRS OR LIABILITY.

PRE-FLIGHT (each time)
- Instructor presents the flight maneuvers
to be taught in each flying session followed
by questions and answers.
- Get frequency pin BEFORE turning on your
radio.
- Preflight plane, range check radio and
check all controls.

- AMA Safety Rules
(Ground School)
- Club Safety Rules
(Ground School)
- Visitor Control procedures
(Ground School)
- Straight and level flight with mild 180° left turns
(Flight School)
- Straight and level flight with mild 180° right turns
(Flight School)
- Starting your engine safely (Ground
School)
- Setting engine operation
(Ground School)
- Ground handling and taxiing (Flight School)
- 90° left and right turns, maintaining altitude and
directional control (Flight School)
- Effects of wind direction on take-off, flight (turns, climbs,
etc.) and landings (Ground School)
- Stalls and low speed flight (Flight School)
- STUDENT DOES VARIOUS FLIGHT MANEUVERS ON COMMAND
WITHOUT THE INSTRUCTOR’S INTERVENTION (Flight
School)
- Review progress and revisit any problem areas
(Ground School)
- Instructor reviews take-off procedure with student
(Ground School)
- Student does a take-off and climbs to 'training'
altitude (Flight School)
- Instructor reviews landing Procedure with student
(Ground School)
- Review stall prevention and recovery (Flight
School)
- Entering the landing pattern, but maintaining a safe
altitude while practicing landing approaches
(Flight School)
- Simulated landings down the center of the runway
(Flight School)
- Landing pattern, stressing the importance of using a three-leg
approach
(Ground School)
- Instructor sets up an approach and the Student 'puts
the wheels on the ground (Flight School)
- Entering the landing pattern and setting proper
glide angle (Flight School)
- Student makes a three-leg approach and lands
(Flight School)
- Emergency landings, engine not running, radio or mechanical
failures
(Ground School)
- Instructor sets up emergency situations and Student
recovers to landing (Flight School)
- STUDENT TAXIES, TAKES OFF, CLIMBS TO ALTITUDE, SETS
UP A LANDING APPROACH AND LANDS WITHOUT INSTRUCTOR
INTERVENTION (Flight School)
- Review progress and revisit any problem areas.

- Limited aerobatics; loops, rolls and inverted flight
(Flight School)
- SOLO FLIGHT (Flight School)
